English Narrative Essay Topics

English Narrative Essay TopicsEnglish narrative essay topics are open to interpretation. As such, the writer must be willing to work with their instincts and create a world of their own. What this means is that you have to be able to write about the events you know of or those which are speculative.Let's say for example that you're a literature student and you've written an assignment on Shakespeare. You've probably read the plays and perhaps even sat through a couple of comedies. But now you need to write about something that you don't know about, but which is important to your subject. Maybe your subject is King Lear. And after you've read through his entire oeuvre, you realize that in the middle of one of his tragedies, you're just dying to know if he ever committed incest! This will take some thinking out. You have to look for poetic phrases and metaphorical allusions that are subtle and easily overlooked. What's more, you also have to accept that the author may use certain play pl ot devices to make a particular story seem more complex and troubling than it actually is.For example, one of Shakespeare's greatest literary tricks is how he manages to use parallelism and repetition. In any given play, you may see one event repeated two or three times. One could also see that event repeated a couple of times, then once, and then again, and then a couple of times more. The key here is to look at the events as part of a larger story that requires a point of view. Of course, common sense will tell you that the point of view may change from one story to another. However, this does not change the fact that there is always a core underlying theme which affects the whole of the play, or book, or movie. You may discover this theme by looking at the characters and how they react to the actions of the protagonist. Also, the viewpoint character may indicate a fact that an audience member could not easily deduce on their own. For example, you might find that the English narrato r of a play may notice a particular detail that doesn't occur to the rest of the audience. In short, don't be afraid to write your own story. Even if you don't take full credit for it, simply making it up can work out wonderfully for your English narrative essay topics.
